Mihalis (born Athens, Greece) is an economist and marketer devoted to the study,development and implementation of Place/City Marketing and Branding.
He holds a PhD in City Marketing from the University of Groningen, Netherlands and has studied Marketing in Stirling, Scotland and Business Administration in Piraeus, Greece.
Mihalis has led and participated in several research and consultancy projects on City Branding, Regional Marketing and Tourism Marketing. He has been teaching Place Marketing and Tourism Development in universities in the Netherlands and in Hungary where he is currently Associate Professor of Marketing and Tourism at the International Business School in Budapest.
He has published extensively in academic journals and international conferences and is regularly an invited speaker at conferences and workshops on Place Marketing and Place Branding organised by local authorities across Europe. He is the co-editor (with G.J. Ashworth) of ‘Towards Effective Place Brand Management: Branding European Cities and Regions’.
