In summer of 2011, in:polis together with Multiplicities helped organise two panel discussions on the future of the creative industries in Berlin. Both events took place at
Radialsystem Berlin as part of the
Berlin Agora initiative.
During the first event, panelists discussed the status quo of the creative industries in Berlin from their varying practical and theoretical perspectives. More specifically, panelists discussed new strategies for promoting interaction and cooperation between various creative industry actors and new policy approaches to creative industries. Participants scrutinized the economic, cultural, and socio-political aspects of the creative industries sector in an attempt to resolve the disparity between the hype and reality of the creative industry.
The second event continued the discussion but shifted the focus more towards possible solutions. The panelists postulated the need for more lobbying, increased project funding, and the election of an independent culture senator. Moreover, a clear and more centralised structure and coordination of the creative industries was seen as fundamental.
In:polis and Multiplicities conceived the two events thematically, and both Ares Kalandides and Dr. Bastian Lange acted as moderators of the panel discussions.
