This Local Social Capital Study analyses visitors' expectations of Berlin's neighbourhood Schöneberg in order to gain a better overview of the particular qualities and attractions of this place as well as a more precise understanding of the demand of local offerings. Eventually, new approaches for the district tourism concept can be derived.
The thematic focus lies on galleries (around Potsdamer Straße), the LGBT community, and the ethnic diversity of the neighbourhood. All three elements make Schöneberg unique and have a particular impact on the neighbourhood's everyday life.
Furthermore, potentials for a local tourism promotion programme as well as its possible impacts on existing structures are discussed. Different approaches to tourism management are presented. With the help of a SWOT analysis, opportunities and risks are identified and corresponding recommendations presented.
